Note about
East Cocalico Township Minutes
Back on September 6, 2006 I (Ken McCrea) presented a request to the East Cocalico Township Board of Supervisors at their regular meeting concerning posting minutes and agendas for Township meetings on the Township's web site. I asked that:
1) Meeting minutes from all Township boards, etc. be placed on their web site within three business days of the meeting (marked as "Draft" until officially approved) so the public could see them. At that time only the Supervisors meeting minutes were placed on the web site, and each time they added a new set of minutes they would remove the previous set.
2) Agendas for upcoming meetings (marked as tentative and subject to revision) be placed on the web site 24 hours in advance of the meetings so that the public could see what was to happen at the meetings and decide if they were interested in attending.
3) Meeting minutes from the previous year should also be placed on the web site.
The Township did make one immediate change in response to my request. They no longer deleted the previous minutes when the added new minutes. From that time until this week (March 26, 2007) only those Board of Supervisors minutes (starting with the earliest ones on the web site at that time) were on their web site.
My other requests were denied because they claimed they didn't have the time or manpower to make those changes, and they weren't sure there was enough space on the web site to hold that much information.
To get the information needed to create this web site on March 20, 2007 I requested digital copies of all their minutes back to the start of 2006 as a formal written request under Pennsylvania's "Right to Know Law." When I checked on the status of that request on March 26th, I was informed that they were adding all of the minutes that I had just requested to their web site. It is amazing what a little thing like a contested primary election can do to ones motivation! I received my digital copies of them on March 27, 2007, and will have them added to this web site in the next few days. Not all of the minutes I requested were available in digital form. I will obtain printed copies of these, and will scan and post them as time permits.
Better late than never! Thanks, ECT! Now, if you could just work on making those agendas available before the meetings... J
