Issues Facing
East Cocalico Township
Below is a list of some of the issues facing the Township. There are many others not listed here. There is much need for public discussion on these issues. Currently very few people attend the Board of Supervisors meetings and even fewer attend their workshop meetings. Long range planning is not a major topic for the Board at their workshop meetings, where all the real discussion takes place - by the time of the regular meetings, there is rarely any significant discussion among the Board members unless they are asked questions by people attending the meetings.
Check the minutes of the regular Board of Supervisors, linked in the previous monthly schedules, and see. Most votes end with "...asked if there were any questions. There were none. Motion carried." Of the fifteen regularly scheduled workshop meetings since January 1, 2006, the item "Long Range Planning" was on the agenda and in the minutes of every one (that took place). Of those fifteen meetings, there was one that was cancelled due to bad weather, and fourteen where the word "none" appears after that item in the minutes. That needs to change.
